I grew up in Illinois and our area was (and still is!) full of actual Mom & Pop donut shops. When I moved to Albany I was shocked that Dunkin’ Donuts was really the only choice for donuts, and let’s face it, those things can hardly be called donuts. Whenever I visit home I’m always sure to pick up the real thing – my favorite being a Boston creme filled chocolate long john. God, I miss real donuts.
